Readings

• Math: Prologue; Ch. I: To Deliver You from the Preliminary Terrors; Ch. II: On the Different Degrees of Smallness; Ch. III: On Relative Growings. Start the calculus notebook. Write a paragraph — words and/or notation — describing how the area of a square of side x changes as the side grows. Work the two Ch. III examples by hand and record the complete solutions in the notebook.
• Theology: Gospel and Kingdom, Preface, Introduction, and Ch. 1 (Why Read the Old Testament?). Bible: Genesis 1–3.
• Literature: Hesiod, Theogony, complete (~30 pp.)
• Western Civilization: Spielvogel, Ch. 1: The Ancient Near East — The First Civilizations (pp. 1–32)

Thesis & assignments

• Assignment: Create the calculus notebook — set it up with cover, title page, table of contents, page numbers, and the reserved Notation, Definition Glossary, and Formula Collection sections.
